499: Halloween, Dork-style

Actual costumes for Halloween this year, to say we're proud of our selections would be an understatement.  If you guys know the character that I'm dressed as and his history... well, let's just say the two of us might become new best friends.  And of course, the Sultan is rockin' his own niche getup that I'm sure a few of you out there will recognize.  Needless to say, it was all super fun to draw.  Also hooray for Pokémon Y girl, she's the best.

In addition to awesome costumes, the other thing I wanted to tell you about was Motörhead's brand new album, Aftershock.  And luckily, I won't need as much space as I did for Alter Bridge's new album.  Aftershock can be summed up entirely in just four words:

It's a Motörhead album.

Whatever that sentence makes you think of is exactly what this album is, because it is the same as all their others.  Motörhead has been playing the exact same type of music for 40 years, and it's been the same three guys together for more than half of that.  Hell, they've even used the same producer on their last five albums, and the same album artist since 1977.  (Joe Petagno, he's awesome.)  They clearly aren't feeling the need to change their formula any time soon, and god bless them for that, because their music is still just as awesome as it always has been.  Lemmy's voice hasn't changed one bit, their playing is still fast and badass, and they somehow manage to keep writing new versions of the same shit we all love and crave from them.  The only difference between this album and their previous ones is that there's no really hard metal on it.  Motörhead has always played fast hard rock, and MODERN Motörhead would often stray into metal - but this album is all pure, bluesy hard rock.  Other than that, there are no surprises on this album, you already know exactly what you're going to get.  If you like Motörhead, you will like this album.  And if you dislike Motörhead, you will dislike this album.  It's as simple, and awesome, as that.

That's all for this week.  I'm getting called in to work every day this weekend, and the next comic is going to take a while for me to finish, so I'll get that done this upcoming week.  Who knows, it might even be a super special one for you guys.  I mean, it's not like we have a big milestone coming up or anything....

[Edit 12/25:  Merry Christmas, nerds!  Comic #500 is nearing completion and should be up sometime in the next few days!  You've been super patient these last two months, so hopefully this comic will be the perfect Christmas-thank-you for you all.  Get hype.~]
