The title of this strip is both a metaphor for finally getting to play guitar again, AND a salute to the greatest comic strip characters of all time. And so finally, after waiting and worrying about my finger for a whole month, everything turned out to be just fine. All of the motion returned to it, as well as most of the feeling (though not all of it), and my finger is fully functional once again. It was actually completely healed before this story arc even began - I said at the beginning that this happened during the past months, when I was working on #500. So to all the people who emailed in with well-wishes and words of comfort, you guys are awesome, and a month late, and I love you guys. The best part about getting back to normal was absolutely playing my guitar again. I have never wanted to play guitar so badly as during the month that I couldn't play it, not knowing whether I'd lost some of my ability. When I finally got to pick it up and see that everythng felt ok, it was the biggest sigh of relief ever. It felt like coming back home to friend you'd been missing terribly.
To help celebrate the healing of digital-injuries, I have a new hard rock band from New Orleans to share with you guys. It's been a while since I've giving you guys a rec, isn't it? This is a band by the name of Supagroup (great name). Their style is similar to Airbourne and the many other 70's and 80's-inspired modern hard rock bands out there, which means every song is indubitably going to be about the genre's holy trinity: sex, drugs, and rock 'n' roll. Like, for instance, their hit song "Let's Go (Get Wasted)." And here's one for you called "What's Your Problem?" Considering how much I love Airbourne, and 70's/80's AC/DC style hard rock in general, it was an easy decision when I bought every single one of their albums. This easy decision was brought to me by Johnny from the Bayou, so let us all thank him and his hot, swampy, Southern excellence. See you guys on Wednesday with another comic!
[1/23: HAD KIND OF A BAD NIGHT, SO I COULDN'T GET WEDNESDAY'S COMIC DONE. I'LL PUT UP A SKETCH OR SOMETHING THURSDAY AFTERNOON AND COME BACK WITH A NEW COMIC ON FRIDAY.]
