142: Van Canto

Van Canto really are quite a talented band.  One female vocalist, four "guitarist" vocalists, and one ACTUAL drummer.  They made a name for themselves doing covers of Metallica songs, (very well, I might add) and have also recorded some popular tracks of their own.  To hear their cover of Metallica's "Master of Puppets", click here for the video.  Personally I'm not a huge fan of operatic female vocals in metal songs, but there is no denying that they are an incredibly skilled a cappella group.

Two bands for you guys today.  First is an amazing rock band called Sons of Icarus.  These guys are perfect for me, and anyone who loves classic rock.  Kickass riffs, awesome vocals, these guys impressed the poop outta me, and I can't wait to listen to the rest of their songs.  Check one out right here.  And for an extra treat, here's another!  I need to thank Ele from Spain for this band rec, thanks a bunch!  Next is another metal opera, and a very good one at that.  The album Elinoire by Flaming Row is a fantastic metal opera that spans several different genres throughout its songs.  This album has everything: varying time signatures and styles, heavy parts that are freaking awesome, and beautiful parts that are just so damn beautiful.  Here's one of their heavier songs.  Thanks to Jacob from Indiana for the link to this video.  Lastly I'd just like to thank Steven from Australia for the hilarious article he sent me, Joseph from California for his kind words and recommendations, and Brady from [REDACTED] for his outstanding suggestions for the site.  Thank you all!
