206: The Parlor Mob

The Parlor Mob is, in fact, an awesome band, but I admittedly play favorites like this all the time.  The Answer is one of my favorite bands of all time, so comparing another band to them is one of the best ways to make me like them/make me feel competitive and defensive.  Yadda yadda, everyone has their own tastes in music and so forth,  THE ANSWER ARE BETTER THAN EVERYONE, SCREW YOU GUYS.

Shoutouts first!  Music later, OMGEEE!  I heard from quite a few people last week, and I would like to take the time to thank some of them now.  These fine individuals all provided me with some excellent recommendations and kind regards, and they deserve to be showered in gold - no, NERDY gold! - NO! GIL!  YES!  They deserve to be showered in Gil.  Like, at least 27 gil.  Those people are: Oleg from Russia, Kristian from Denmark, Steven from Scotland, and Danié from Spain.  Alongside these fine warriors of rock are Rossi from Ireland, who eloquantly described my comics as "so fucking funny," Jonathan from that area in my brain between AC/DC's entire catalogue and the constant, uncontrollable desire to get jiggy with it, and finally Globul from France, who was all like, "Yo dawg, I can help you with your French in your old comics, word?" and to which I was like, "Naw, I'm lazy, LOL!"  To all of these fine nerdy specimens, we give our dearest thanks and fairest maidens/suitors, for they deserve no less!  Fancy word gibberish yay!

Now, at long last, some more music!  This first band is an awesome Southern Hardcore band called Maylene & The Sons Of Disaster.  That problem I mentioned where some hardcore bands underplay the guitar too much?  That problem is non-existent for this band, their guitar work is awesome, bluesy, and rocking.  And their vocals walk the line between singing and screaming very well, to where it's that kind of kickass "screaming with a melody" type of sound.  Check out their song "Raised By The Tide" right here.  Thank you, Chase from Mississippi for this band!  Next up is a band that I have gotten quite a few recommendations for, and it took me this long to pay attention, cuz I'm a dumb head!  They are the infamous Gypsy punk band known as Gogol Bordello.  An American band that looks and sounds like anything BUT what people consider mainstream in America, and frnakly, they're awesome.  A music video doesn't really do their crazy attitudes justice, so here's a video of them performing on the David Letterman show to sum it up for me.  I LIKE!  That is all, see you tomorrow!
