The Last Waltz (1978)

Here'a one of The Band's most well-known songs, their 1968 hit, "The Weight."  This version appears on their concert movie "The Last Waltz," which was film in 1976 and released two years later.  Martin Scorsese directed the film.  Some of you might remember hearing about Levon Helm's death a month ago, for those of you who didn't know who that was, he's the drummer.  He's also the main vocalist of The Band.  Bassist Rick Danko and keyboardist Richard Manuel have also died, leaving only guitarist Robbie Robertson and pianist Garth Hudson left.

The Last Waltz concert features about a dozen guest artists that The Band had collaborated with over their career, including Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, and Ronnie Hawkins, as well as a few other celebrity musicians like Ringo Starr, Van Morrison, Muddy Waters, and more.  It really is a great concert.
