266: Anime

"Guy who eats a lot" is by far the best anime character ever, right alongside "perverted middle-aged guy."  Panel 5 of this comic would be Kevin looking up the plot on the computer and saying, "Oh, so THAT'S what was going on!  Wow, it really was aliens.  Huh..."  LOL ANIME.  Tomorrow's comic is going to be about some awesome classic rock-inspired anime series, can't wait, so exciting.

In honor of all my fellow anime and manga-loving nerds out there, the first recommendation I have for you all today is an independent manga series called Ryak-Lo.  Begun a little over 2 years ago, the series is ongoing and currently on its 37th issue, and updates regularly every day or two.  In my opinion, the story and the characters are very derivative of . . . everything else you've ever seen, but the action scenes are FUCKING AWESOME, and the artwork is very clear, so it gets a plus from me.  This webcomic was recommended to me by Ian from New Mexico, so thanks be to him for all the giant swords and magic and tits and whatnot!  And now that that's settled, I'll leave you all with one new band recommendation.  This here's a new pop punk band from Scotland called The Static Cult, and I can say without a doubt they are funking kickass.  Their songs have a slightly darker tone to them than your average pop punk band, while maintaining all the upbeat catchiness the genre is known for.  After listening to this playlist of their debut album, I immediately decided to go and buy it, which is something I don't do very often for pop punk bands.  A big thanks to Glen from Scotland for the awesome suggestion!  Haggis and Pixar to you, great Scot!
