Song of the Day

August 31, 2012
Mos Def
Black On Both Sides (1999)

You know what?  Why NOT play some rap?!  Mos Def was always one of my favorite rappers, due to his lyric flow and simple style.  When looking at all the rappers I'm fond of, it's easy to notice that they are all similar in that sense.  Almost no gangster rappers or club/dance artists.

This song lists a bunch of facts and statistics related to African Americans' social statuses, the music business, and general math/science.  For instance, many of the lyrics focus on the disproportionately high percentage of minorites in prison or in poverty in the United States.
